Victoria Yoga Conference Promo Video

My career goals are to create content that inspires and engages the world. I love to integrate sound with images and design with words.
Earlier this year I was asked to assist my friend, Carolyne Taylor of yoUnlimited and 24 Carrot Learning to produce a series of interviews with some of the yoga teachers she had participating in the inaugural Victoria Yoga Conference (February 1-3, 2013).
Happily I agreed and this is what I created (with my limited video production gear) and FCPx.
Was SO much fun to edit!

SOUPER Support for Uganda Wishes!

Gratitude and love to my long-time friend Carolyne(right)

It was an honour tonight to meet a group of people who chose to share their evening over a bowl of soup and to listen to the story of the proposed Uganda Wishes multi-media project.
The aromas of four different kinds of home-made soups filled the ambiance with freshly heated bread. Once enough of us had filled the room it was time to eat. I met new faces.
Carolyne introduced me and then passed around the hat. The idea being, whatever you might spend on a Friday night normally would go to supporting Uganda Wishes.
This was the first time for me as the project lead, where I had the chance to stand in front of more than a handful of individuals and speak about the idea behind Uganda Wishes.
There wasn’t a person in the room that I spoke with afterwards who had been to Africa. Throughout the remainder of the evening I fielded questions on language, political unrest, needs for orphans and the opportunities to assist. I couldn’t help but think my time there will be too short. Six weeks will zoom by.
This time next week I will have concluded my first full day in Uganda. My first full day of producing Uganda Wishes. I look forward to fulfilling many of the questions I heard tonight through future blog posts. Thank you to everyone who has supported this project thus far. And to the amazing Carolyne who brought us all together tonight for the first Uganda Wishes - Soup Party!
Sincerely,
Jane Victoria King
Project Lead

Love in a Hug

There are certain things certain people know about me, that not even the higher ups in my family chain know. I’m happy to keep it that way. The secrets stay within.
There is one particular person in my life, who has stood beside me for a long time. She’s been there for me through all the ups and the downs, even the turnarounds - and is right up there in “the know.” My pal Carolyne. She’s one special gal!
It was luck that I caught up with her this evening. Doing her usual set up for her Arbonne business in the Sidney Health Fair at the Mary Winspear Centre. Only a smidge of what she really does with her life. The list grows weekly!
We pick up where we left off. Fill in the holes on what we’ve missed on the Facebook updates. It’s better to talk in person. I can catch the flicker of joy in her life as she talks about her trip away to Puerto Viarta and her daily yoga practice. And feel the emotion in her eyes when she tells me about the passing of her beloved dog, Sam. Life’s tales are better told in person. Especially when they start and end with a hug.
Love in a hug. What true friends are always there for.
